Shifting Turbulence

Medium: Video and Audio

Duration: 3’22”

This video explores how motion and sound come together to show the changing moods of the sky—stormy, foggy, clear, or even disappearing. Inspired by the artist’s experience of missing the blue sky after days of fog, it is a playful take on how the sky constantly changes. The sound complements this theme with experimental audio effects that stretch, shift, and evolve, adding surreal layers that enrich the visuals. Techniques like datamoshing and scanning create a visual rhythm, moving between tense, compressed scenes and open, expansive moments, capturing the fluid nature of time and perception.

This piece was developed during my residency at Signal Culture in 2025. This research trip was supported by the Humanities Grant 2024-2025 awarded by Hamline University.
